...YOU GOT THE BEST

June 2007
Time continues to amaze me at how fast it moves. It's been a quiet couple of years for us in terms of the website and not a lot of new "KISS/KAOL" happenings to update. For us, the ongoing trend is that our yesterday's news is still the major story. So after this update, the remainder of the front page continues to showcase older events that are still the relevant headlines in our most recent memory.

KAOL has become legendary on the internet for its music, purpose, and for opening the door to internet based productions before it had ever been done.

We moved our headquarters in 2005 and built a brand new recording facility in New England. For more on that journey please visit www.kathylabonte.com

There is only one change taking place right now so let's get you caught up...

This website was born in January of 1997 and those of you familiar with our non-profit work over the years know us as MusiCare Online, Inc. However, we have now changed our name and as of October of 2004 MusiCare Online, Inc. will forever be known as Musicians For Progress, Inc.

What else has changed? Nothing.

The corporation is the same. We have simply changed our name. The work we have done in the past, the work we will continue to do in the future, our principles, our beliefs, our mission statement, and our passion about music and its role in helping people has not changed. We are still the same organization with the same goals. We are the same people that for the 5 years between 1997 and 2002 brought you 6 incredible releases from the KISS Army OnLine network that raised thousands for charity.

Again, we have simply changed our name.

We are now Musicians For Progress.

What is in the future? Well, KAOL itself (KISS Army OnLine) will not have any more new releases to offer. We MAY repress some of the sold out titles if there is enough demand. For as long as this website is up and as long as we have some CDs to sell, we will continue to offer these fantastic discs to anyone who wants one.

But KAOL is not all that this is about. MusiCare Online was the original name of the parent sponsor for the KAOL projects and was specifically started so that we could utilize a variety of music to help others. Our fundraising and ideas for new projects has barely scratched the surface of its potential. Now that we have changed our name to Musicians For Progress, future new projects of completely different musical avenues are on the horizon. Musicians For Progress will be going thru some changes and morphing into its new identity in this next year as we shed the KAOL skin and develop some new ideas for future musical releases.

Please feel at home to look around the site. There's LOTS of info about our donations to the charities, numerous bios on the bands and musicians involved in the recordings, and interesting histories on the birth of KAOL. Each Tribute CD in the Trilogy series has its own page with complete track listings, artwork, and detailed info on the package inserts and more. The rest of the news here on the front page, although a bit dated, is our most recent updated info on the CDs and donations - all that occurred back in 2002 just before the move to Arizona.

Read, look around, make a purchase! Thanks for visiting Musicians For Progress and KAOL. We hope what you learn here is inspiring - we certainly think it's a story worth telling. Please bookmark us and come back in the future.

We are already in the latter half of the year 2004 - can you believe it? Time seems to be moving a lot faster every year as I age unlike childhood when the months seemed to drag on forever! Strangely enough, yesterday's news is still of headline importance and therefore, most of what you've read in the past will continue to be posted after this update. But let's do a brief recap and get you up to speed...

To summarize things, the height of the KISS Tribute CD years were between 1997 and 2002. Those were extremely active and hectic years in which the website was updated frequently. During that time period we released a 3 part trilogy of discs plus a full blown novel with soundtrack about the band. The first releases of each CD within the 3 part trilogy sold out and we subsequently released altered (ie. "much improved") and remastered versions. Those sold even better (and faster) and the novel/soundtrack project sold out as well.

This all took place during the height of KISS' comeback in the late 90s. The Reunion Tour and the Farewell Tour years brought back the passion and frenzy that most of us retired KISS fans had put aside. Releasing the set of Tribute discs at that time was cosmic fate and just plain meant to be. How did it all come about? Well, that's a story best told deeper within this website. Look around at the links and learn more about the growth of this unique project.

In terms of charity, we raised $18,000 for 3 different organizations during the active years of '97-'02. These were: The Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, The Massachusetts Alzheimer's Association, and The Twin Towers Orphan Fund. Everyone involved in the recording and producing of the CDs worked long hours during those years. By the time 2002 rolled around we had sold out of a majority of our product and, speaking for myself now, I was literally exhausted. A personal move was in the works and with that I took the MusiCare Online headquarters from California to Arizona.

So, what's been happening in the last year or two? Some badly needed rest, some downtime, and the sun setting on what was an amazing historical project that can never be repeated. With no active advertising being pursued and the website on a self sanctioned "hiatus" since 2002, our sales and fundraising slowed to a much needed trickle. People have stumbled upon this site (much like you have today) and made just enough purchases here and there to sustain the cost of the site itself.

We are officially sold out of the following titles:

Music From The Folder (released 1997)
Creatures of The Net (released 1998)
Music From The Folder '99 (released 1999)
Creatures of the Net: A New Millennium (released 2000)
A World Without Heroes Novel (released 2000)

What is available:
The Spirit of '78 (released 2001) (Double CD set, audio, video, Part 3 of the CD Trilogy)
A World Without Heroes (CD soundtrack only) (released 2000)

Our grand finale and third part of the CD Trilogy initially sold out and was repressed immediately. It is still currently available. This double CD set is the cream of the crop and highly recommended to all KISS fans. If you were not fortunate enough to purchase the other items in the series don't let this one pass you by. Get one while we still have them. While you're at it, pick up the 70 minute soundtrack disc to "A World Without Heroes" for only $5.

Low Stock!

We will no longer be releasing any new titles in the KISS Tribute series and the MusiCare Online label itself will eventually be moving onto other genres and styles of music for our forthcoming projects. Some of our sold out releases are already collector’s items.

All we have left is a few of the DOUBLE CD SET, "The Spirit of '78" which has both an audio AND VIDEO DISC and is packed with great musical productions of the 1978 solo albums and collectible video footage.

Get it and you can also purchase the seventy minute Tribute Soundtrack to "A World Without Heroes" for just FIVE DOLLARS (while supplies last!). This Soundtrack disc came inside the book we published by Dale Sherman. The book is sold out but we have some overstock on the Soundtrack itself. The only way to get the $5.00 soundtrack is with the purchase of another CD.

Again, all tracks on KAOL CDs are remade by bands from around the world and have been highly reviewed in various media. All orders come with a bumper sticker and, of course, every CD package is filled with extra collectible goodies and inserts (just like the old KISS albums of the 70's)!

What is KAOL 3 "The Spirit of '78?

It's the third release in a 3 part series of CD Tributes and the only KISS Tribute CD based entirely on the material of the four 1978 solo

2001: Record Year

Thanks to all of the KAOL customers for such a great year. The KISS Army OnLine did more sales in 2001 than ever before and as a result, we were able to donate several thousand more dollars to charity than in previous years (see below).

October 6, 2001
KISS Army Collects $3,000 For Orphans of Twin Towers
The New York Groove: "We Are One" Fund

Shortly after the September 11th attacks, the KISS Army OnLine (KAOL), offered an opportunity for KISS fans to assist in the nationwide healing efforts thru donations for NY victims and their families. In an effort to keep it upbeat, we lowered our prices and various KISS Tribute packages were promised in return for the charitable pledges.
We're happy to report that with the help of so many fans, we quickly and successfully raised $3,000. We've researched the many charities available and have earmarked the money to be given to the "Twin Towers Orphan" Fund. We considered all the obvious choices: the American Red Cross, the United Way, the September 11th Fund, and several dedicated police and firefighter foundations. When selecting, we tried to keep in mind who was the least visible and who needed the most help. It was important that our $3,000 go to where it had the most impact. We settled on the "Twin Towers Orphan" Fund where 100% of the money is promised to be used for the children who lost parents in the WTC, as well as the ill fated airliners - either as passengers or crew. See www.ttof.org for more info.

We are now picking up where we left off and returning our fund raising efforts back over to Alzheimer's Disease. Special thanks to ALL of the KISS fans who came forward, some of whom already owned the KAOL products and asked for nothing in return. For those receiving our series of KISS Tribute CDs, enjoy them to the fullest. You've made the music far more meaningful than ever before.

Another $3,000 Donation To Alzheimer's from the KISS Army!

Summer is over and so are the KAOL promotional sales for 2001. We've had a
great year so far with the release of KAOL 3 "The Spirit of '78". Since it
debuted in March, we've sold out of the first pressing and are midway thru
the second batch. All summer long we've run specials on "Creatures of The
Net" and "The Spirit of '78" and I'm proud to announce that as we head into
the fall, we've cleared another $3,000 for donation to the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Association! This brings our Alzheimer's total to $10,000 in just

1 year plus the $5,000 we raised for The Children's Hospital with previous KISS Tribute CDs over the years - a grand total of $15,000 since KAOL began.
The KISS Army will once again be engraved upon The Spirit of Remembrance Wall in Cambridge, Mass next spring for the 2001 plaque ceremony. Thank you all so much for your contribution and all the great feedback and reviews you've left behind about the unique KISS tribute CDs we call KAOL.

Why is this 72 year old woman dressed in a KISS shirt in front of the Alzheimer's Association? Could she be Gene's oldest living fan???
